Just Planted
Today I planted parsley, spring onion and the rest of the bush bean seeds.
The parsley and spring onion seeds are freshly purchased so I hope they will come up. I haven’t have much lucky lately with growing things from seed. Out of the row of bush beans I planted last time, only one plant came up. These have been good croppers in the past, producing tonnes of beans from such tiny plants, that I would like to keep the seed line going.
Here’s the info on the parsley and spring onions from the seed packets (they’re both D.T. Brown brand).
Parsley:
Sow: 12mm (1/2 inch) deep
Seedlings emerge: 21-28 days
Spacing: thin out to 15cm (6 in) apart, later to 30 cm (1 ft) apart.
Harvest: as needed
Traditionally, it was believed that parsley went to the devil and back 9 times because of the long germination time.
Spring Onions:
Sow: 15mm (1/2 inch) deep
Seedlings emerge: 10-14 days
Spacing: 15cm (6in) between rows)
Harvest: approx 8-12 weeks
